Leadership is not about control or intimidation it is about service, compassion, and accountability. Yet once again, the name Ned Nwoko is trending for all the wrong reasons, casting a shadow over the image of the Nigerian Senate and the nation at large.
Recent reports of the arrest and harassment of Regina Daniels’ brother and elder sister have left Nigerians deeply concerned. Why should state power be used to settle personal matters? Why should the police an institution meant to protect citizens be drawn into private disputes? This is not leadership; this is abuse of influence.
Marriage is not by force. It is a sacred bond built on love, understanding, and mutual respect not fear or coercion. Any attempt to intimidate or manipulate a woman’s family undermines the values we hold dear as a people and further weakens public faith in our institutions.
The Nigerian Police must not be used as an instrument of harassment or intimidation. Their duty is to uphold justice, safeguard lives, and ensure peace not to serve as a weapon in the hands of the powerful. When the law becomes a tool for oppression, it loses its purpose and credibility.
Nigeria is watching. The world is watching. And women across the nation are speaking out not just for Regina Daniels, but for every woman who has faced unfair treatment, bullying, or silencing. True leadership uplifts; it does not disgrace. True power protects; it does not persecute.
Ned, it’s time to rise above personal ego and act with the dignity your office demands. Leave Regina Daniels’ family alone. Lead with conscience, not control. Nigeria deserves better and women will continue to demand it.
